For anybody that had any doubt, CJ is truly a Mavs fan (from an email she sent me in reply to how she enjoyed the Jazz-Mavs game this Tuesday):
We were behind the basket about 20 rows up on the Mavericks side. We did get Dirk to look at us after they scored and went ahead and Utah called a time out. We were yelling and he and the rest of the team looked up in our general direction. Right now, the Mavericks suck-they are not playing well at all and are about to drop out of the top 8 in the west. They'd better get going. I don't want San Antonio to repeat. Julie's family lives there and are not basketball fans, but they like to rub it in that they live in the "winners" city. Ken likes to bother me whenever he can about Dirk because he made a stupid comment 10 years ago about Utah and Mormons. I wouldn't be able to talk to anyone if I kept thinking about stupid comments people have made about Mormons, the Mavs, the weather, the government, etc. I don't like fair weather fans either. Okay, done with the rant. Glad you don't like the Jazz-hope they play Golden State in the first round and get routed!
PS--she's assured me that Dirk is not her boyfriend.

CJ's unabashed love for the Mavs and Dirk cracks me up. I didn't know people who love crafting so much were also capable of being that into basketball!
Dirk is definitely CJ's Homeboy, though.
So ya'll know, Gary is aware of this and is completely okay with it. It is a source of great amusement in my family and in Gary's family-especially since they are Jazz fans.
